Case of the February’s

Back from Hiatus.. (My apologies to BB & the entire O’Colly staff)

I feel like this entire month has been like Groundhog Day (Bing!) and a large case of the Mondays squared.

Mini rant —> This weather sucks. It literally takes the breath out of my lungs. I despise my finger tips and toes turning baby blue and oxygen not pumping into my cerebral cortex. If I could choke ol’ Phil for seeing his shadow, I wouldn’t blink, I wouldn’t think, I wouldn’t mind – he would look nice as a vest a la Kate Moss in Interview UK.

I need a vacation. Moreover, I need a clone so everything would still be getting done.

For your viewing pleasure however – I am attaching things I am in major like for Spring 2010.

‘Cest la vie & etc.

Shaaaaake, shake it off

•02/03/2010 • 1 Comment

In life sometimes you just have to shake it off. You can’t let everything eat at you. You have to keep your head up, square your shoulders and keep a positive outlook no matter how bad it gets. You will be a stronger person. You will know yourself, and your heart and you will not settle for anything less the perfect for you. That is all happiness means to me. Yes, I do factor in what others thing about me – and probably always will but my opinion of me is what matters the most. I’m going to let it roll, shake it off, and learn from my mistakes and my past and try to be the best version of me that I can be.

A quote from my favorite author Ayn Rand from (Atlas Shrugged)

“I swear, by my life and love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine.”

Every second counts

You really don’t know a good thing until its gone. After one of my most insane weekends of my life, I sitting here with my homework piled around me on the verge of tears asking myself – Was it really worth it? My room is a mess (which if you know me at all, I work well in chaos) I have hours of homework, (I’ve been slacking on my blog – Sorry, BRIT!) And I’m asking myself – IS is truth worth it? How am I measuring my life?

But you literally have 86,400 seconds in a day, or 525, 600 minutes in a year to live your life. every second counts. Make it count.

Are you stressed? Are you happy? Are you wondering when the next dollar will appear in your pocket?  Life is too short to be unhappy, stressed, angry, unorganized (yes Mother, I know you always say this).

I laugh constantly, I have a wonderful family, great friends, a safe and comfortable home – what more can I ask for? I am blessed. But am I using it for good or evil? I am challenging myself this week to figure it out.

C’est la vie & etc.

Pearls of Wisdom

Rest in Peace

Beverly Ann Weatherford-Stearns/Stool

My aunt Bev was easily the most stylish person I ever met. She could walk into one of her many closets, pull out a blazer, a white button- down, suit pants and accessorize it to the max. She truly spoke in accessories, such as vintage brooches, scarves galore, and anything that glittered such an artist speaks and pants in oils. She could transform an outfit with the addition of a pair of red pumps. She became my own personal Coco Chanel. She had style. She had grace, but most of all she incredible taste. Her preference in jewelry was always a long strand of pearls. Her pearls of wisdom, she fondly called them. She believed in baby naps in the middle of the day, Givenchy scented bubble baths, green-tea lattes from Starbucks, spending the last dollars in her purse for a manicure, and any shade of red lipstick. Her giggle alone could brighten your day. One of her favorite sayings was, “Happiness is not a destination – it’s a method of life.” She is missed by many, and our lives will never be the same. But we will accessorize our lives, our clothing and hearts with whatever may come along, until we meet her again.  I am wearing pearls today in her honor, and hope to apply some of her pearls of wisdom, style and grace to my philosophy.

Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club

All you need is love? Is it possible, that’s all we truly need as humans? Are the greatest band of all time, 100 % right when they sing those lyrics? I’ve Got a Feeling, they are. Let’s just give the benefit of the doubt, suspend our belief and Let It be. It can be a Hard Day’s Night without any sleep, tossing and turning, going over every tiny detail of the last sHE said / She said, Things we should have Said Today, On the Tip of our Tongue – - like (she loves you ya, ya, ya) &  Blah, blah blah. All we really want is To Hold Your Hand, Love me Do, to be your Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds? I find its very important in life to always be direct, to put out (Across the Universe) what you want – and hopefully It Won’t be Long until Johnny B. Goode shows up at your door.  In short, many of us are members of the Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band  - Eight Days a Week temporarily. That’ll Be the Day, when we can turn that membership card in with no guilt attached.  But until then we must remember “Obi-La-Di, Obi-La-Da” —– life goes on. Don’t get down on yourselves dearies, One and One is always Two.

Lay of the Land

•01/11/2010 • 2 Comments

Relationships can be a Payne (county). As we are all aware it’s absolutely frigid outside, and many of us have frozen our emotions deep within just like Old Man Winter. Our out most edges are frozen like Theta Pond, but the free-flowing, cracking center is much like when someone finally gets to us, finally cracks the code. I like, many of us – would rather be safe than sorry. I always try to look before I fall. Our hearts are no longer on our sleeves, saving them from the possibility of frost bite.  We all want to hibernate and hide until the possibility of a spring thaw.  It is common knowledge that relationships bloom in the spring. So my dear friends, if your waiting to thaw – it’s okay, the most significant relationship is the one you can have with yourself.  Enjoy the lay of the land as a free agent. Hold on to the things that make you happy, whatever they may be. In all things, remember the ice that encompasses the winter will soon melt away, and spring will be close behind.

C’est la vie.
